Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How many people can go up at a time? 
Our 1940 WACO UPF-7 seats two passengers at a time (side-by-side seating; bring someone you like). The cockpit is spacious and can comfortably fit two adults.  Children cannot be placed on your lap during a flight.

Are aerobatic flights right for me?
We refer to the WACO UPF-7 as a gentle giant.  The pilot gracefully maneuvers the aircraft through a relaxed series of  rolls, loops, hammer heads, wing overs and reverse cuban eights (favorite of most customers).  If you enjoy roller coasters, we have the ultimate roller coaster in the sky!

What is the minimum and maximum age?
The minimum age is around 5 years old for the.  A child of normal stature for those ages and aircraft will fit safely in the seat belts and be tall enough to take in the view.

What should I wear on my flight?
The aircraft offers good protection from the elements, so dress as if you were going for a ride in a convertible. If the temperature is above 50 degrees, you should be quite comfortable (really). When the temperature is below 70 degrees, a jacket (leather is best) is recommended. You should also bring sunglasses; we will supply the cap and goggles similar to those worn by Snoopy and the Red Baron.

What if my Gift Certificate is expired?
You have 2 years from the date of purchase before your gift certificate expires. We ask you to please try to schedule your ride before your gift certificate expires.  As long as you before the expiration date, the ride can be schedule to take place up to 30 days beyond the expiration date.

Are there any weight limits for the flights?
The maximum weight limit is 425 lbs combined, total weight of the two passengers. We may ask you for your weight before the flight, so please be honest as this is an important consideration with regard to safety.

How can I purchase a gift certificate?
You can purchase a gift certificate online by clicking here.  Your order will be sent via the USPS within 2 business days.  If you would like to have a gift certificate emailed, please call our office at 609-545-2060.  Visa and Master card are accepted.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my flight?
There are a number of reasons we may cancel your flight due to weather (wind, low clouds, rain, etc..)  Simply put, we will not take you up on a day where you will not be thrilled with your flight. Your pilot has the authority to cancel, change, or shorten a flight due to weather or other variables. If we cancel your flight due to inclement weather (at the sole discretion of Aerial Sky Ventures, Inc. dba Red Baron Air Tours) we will gladly reschedule your flight for the next best date.

Can I change my flight when I get to the airport for my ride?
If you would like to change your ride to a longer flight or to a ride that can include aerobatics, we ask that you give us as much notice as possible.  Our flights are usually booked back-to-back and it it may be difficult for us to accommodate last minute changes. We will be happy to accommodate you if at all possible.

What is your cancellation policy?
There is no charge for flights cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. However, once booked, if you cancel your flight within 24 hours you will be charged for the entire flight (this includes no shows. Sorry, no exceptions). Our flights are tightly booked. If you arrive late (plan to arrive 20-30 minutes before your scheduled flight time), that time may be deducted from your flight.

How safe is this?
Everything in life has risk.  The most hazardous part of this adventure is the drive to the airport and maybe some bugs.  The aircraft is cared for on a daily basis and receives a full inspection every 100 hours of flying.  All pilots are FAA certified commercial pilots and all employees, including mechanics are subject to random drug testing.

What are your hours of operation at the airport?
Our hours and locations vary throughout the year.  From May through October, we operate primarily from Ocean City Municipal airport and Woodbine Municipal airport in NJ.  We are often flying from Sunrise to Sunset. Please call us at 609-545-2060 before coming out to the airport so we may provide you with the best possible service.

Can I come by the airport and pick up a Gift Certificate?
Our office is located at Woodbine Aiprot, 675 Henry DeCinque Blvd, Hangar #5, Woodbine, NJ 08226.  The office is staffed 7 days a week from May through October and part-time throughout the remainder of the year.  Please call us 609-545-2060 before coming out to so we make sure someone will be there for you.

Where will we go on my ride?
You tell US what you would like to do. Fly over your house or property, the beautiful NJ coast or take a sunset tour along the bayside of the cape.  Just tell us what you have in mind and if there’s time, we’ll take you there. We will discuss with you a “menu” of possible places to go before your flight.

Why can’t we do any aerobatics (loops, rolls) on my flight?
If you have not specifically prearranged an “aerobatic” ride, we cannot perform stunts. Loops, rolls and other aerobatic maneuvers are FAA prohibited unless a number of safety and legal requirements are first met. You must let us know in advance if you want to change an existing non-aerobatic ride.

Can I bring a camera or camcorder?
Yes! A camera with a wide-angle lens is perfect. It should have a strap if possible. A camcorder is good as long as it is one of the smaller handheld types. We do not permit either on any of the aerobatic flights.

When should I arrive for my flight?
We need you at the airport no later than 20-30 minutes prior to your flight time.  This will allow us time to brief you on the do’s and don’ts.

How far in advance should I book my flight?
Please schedule your ride by calling 609-545-2060 as far in advance as possible to allow for the best selection of times. We do not schedule via email. We fly 7 days a week May through early October.  From Mid October through April we fly most weekends and a number of days during the week as demand dictates. Weekend reservations are often tightly booked, so you should try to schedule as early as possible.  While we do take “walk-ups” when availability permits, we do ask that you make an appointment. Remember, you can add time to your ride or change it to include aerobatics (loops, rolls, all the wild stuff), but you must let us know at the time you schedule.

Should I tip the pilot?
While it’s certainly not expected, many of our customers are so thrilled by their flight, they just can’t resist a small contribution.

Do you offer group discounts?
Yes for parties of 8 or more.  In fact a “Ride Party” is a great gift idea for employees.  Please call 609-545-2060

What is the best time to call and talk with someone?
Call us anytime you want. Our office is usually staffed 7 days a week from May through September and part-time throughout the remainder of the year.  Please leave us a message if we don’t answer your call and we will get back to you within 24 hours.

We fly 7 days a week May through early October.  From Mid October through April we fly most weekends and a number of days during the week as demand dictates.

Can I get a very last minute gift certificate?
Certainly. Please call our office and we will email your gift certificate ASAP.  If you not in a rush, you can still call or click here to receive a gift certificate via USPS.

Can you accommodate groups or parties?
Absolutely. We can accommodate company gift programs, corporate outings, and team building. We have a large hangar suitable for rent with many different ride packages/programs. Catering, theme parties, and planning can all be accommodated. Please call us for more details.

How do I schedule a flight?
Call 609-545-2060, as we do all the scheduling by phone. Please do not use our E-mail system for scheduling.

Are there any blackout dates where I cannot use my Gift Certificate?
Not unless the gift certificate is purchased to be used on the specific blackout day ahead of time. We have blackout dates for gift certificate redemptions on: Father’s day, 4th of July weekend and adopt a pilot day.

Do I have to sign a waiver to fly?
Yes, you will. All passengers must sign a waiver of liability. For passengers under 18 years of age, an adult or legal guardian should sign for them.

How do I get a job with your company?
We are always looking for well rounded people with tailwheel experience and a great team attitude.  We share space with a banner towing company that hires pilots every season as well (tailwheel experience required) email us with your resume. Pilots should have a good bit of quality tail dragger time.

Where should I stay and eat while visiting for my ride?
The Jersey coast is loaded with good hotels, B&B’s and great restaurants.  Atlantic City, Ocean City, Somers Point and Cape May are a few of the coastal towns within a 10-40 ride of one of our airports.
